Accounting Associate

Helius Medical is seeking an Accounting Associate to support our company within North America. This is a remote role, located in the United States working in the Central or Eastern Standard Time Zones.

The Accounting Associate position and will provide general accounting and clerical support to the accounting team by handling a variety of tasks related to the accounting function. We are looking for a detail-oriented self-starter with time management skills to handle multiple deadlines. To be successful the candidate

needs strong accounting background and possess sound technical ability with Excel and accounting systems. This role reports directly to the Accounting Operations Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accounts Receivable – Process sales orders and record incoming cash payments accurately to customer accounts
  • Accounts Payable – Process vendor invoices and enter payments in the Company’s banking systems and issue checks/ACH/wire
  • Purchasing – Create POs for approved Purchase Requisitions
  • Perform assigned monthly/quarterly/year-end closing activities, including the monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Prepare and enter journal entries
  • Maintain prepaid expense and fixed asset schedules
  • Identify and record accruals
  • Gather supporting documentation for audits
  • Prepare data for sales tax, GST and 1099 filings
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and follow established protocols to support the Company’s SOX control environment

Requirements:

  • Accounting associate degree required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • General knowledge of accounting software (ideally Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or NAV)
  • 2-5+ years combined professional experience as an accounting clerk/associate or bookkeeper
  • Experience working in a growth-oriented, early-stage environment a plus
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written. Must be comfortable working with all levels of an organization.
